India’s Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle Mk.II will lift the GSAT-6A Communications Satellite into a Geostationary Transfer Orbit. The 2,100-Kilogram GSAT-6A joins a series of satellites for multi-media and mobile applications, hosting a payload comprising five C-by-S and five S-by-C-Band transponders optimized for Satellite Digital Multimedia Broadcasting. The satellite’s capacity can also be used for strategic and social applications.
This satellite will be launched from Satish Dhavan , Space center, Shriharikota , Andhrapradesh on Thursday 11.26 UTC(March 29 2018). India’s GSLV Mk. II rocket rolls from its assembly building at the Satish Dhawan Space Center to the Second Launch Pad for final preparations for a March 2018 liftoff with the GSAT-6A communications satellite optimized for mobile connectivity for use by the government and military. GSLV F08 marks the 12th flight of the GSLV MK.I/II launch vehicle family, the sixth of the Mk.
